Liposuction
Liposuction is suited mostly for those patients who do not respond to exercise. This procedure helps contour the body to a better shape. In executing this procedure, we use state-of-the-art liposuction with a tumescent technique known as lipoplasty or suction assisted lipectomy. By using the tumescent technique and especially using the smaller cannulas, it allows for more refinement to the procedure and helps us to get better results. Liposuction by far is one of the most common procedures that we do at Parkside Surgery Institute. Generally the patient will be ambulatory from the same day. There is hardly any pain involved in this procedure, additionally the patient may resume normal activities from the next day, and can resume exercise within a few weeks.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
In a significant number of the patients liposuction alone will not be enough to improve the body contour of the patient; in which case, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is available and provides the patient with better results and shape of the body. This procedure is perhaps most helpful to women who have had multiple pregnancies and laxity of the abdominal wall. During a typical abdominoplasty procedure an incision is made along the bikini line. The abdominal skin is separated from the underlying abdominal muscles. Abdominal muscles are tightened and sutured in midline (tuck) to create a tighter and smaller waist. Excess skin is trimmed away and a new belly button is formed. In some patients with less extra skin fat we are able to perform a mini abdominoplasty with shorter incisions, further avoiding longer incisions and giving them a shorter recovery period.
